We Help People Enjoy Life Pain-Free

'I've been seeing Lewis for almost 2 months now and it's been such a great experience. I initially went for a wrist injury I had in the gym, but whilst working on that, Lewis is helping me with neck and back issues as well. I was sceptical about osteopathy but with Lewis being a sports injury expert and a gym enthusiast himself, you cannot go wrong. He will help and advice you on many lifestyle hacks to get the best out of your health. I now see Lewis every week or every 2 weeks, and even though it's not the cheapest service it's well worth it. I highly recommend the Optimal Performance Clinic for any injuries you might have.'

Cristian

'I would highly recommend Lewis to anyone suffering with any type of pain. Lewis is extremely knowledgeable, friendly and caring. He listens to the issues, offers good advice and exercise plans alongside treating the problem areas. I have previously been treated by chiropractors and had deep tissue massages but regular osteopathic treatment from Lewis has had the best impact. I initially started seeing Lewis for back, shoulder and neck pain and over time he has also treated my hips, legs and feet.'

Anna

'Had an appointment with Lewis today as I have been suffering with lower back pain. I can not fault this guy. I was made to feel welcome and comfortable from the moment I arrived. The clinic is modern, clean, warm and inviting. Lewis took the time to find out about me as a person and my lifestyle to not only treat the current problem but to assist me in preventing the issue returning going forward. He has also given me an exercise regime to assist with my recovery. I will be returning next week for some follow up treatment. 5 star treatment and Lewis is the most knowledgeable physical therapist I have seen.'

FAQ

What is Osteopathy?

Osteopathy is a form of drug-free, hands-on manual therapy. Originally starting in the 1800s by a surgeon named Andrew T Still from Missouri, USA. Osteopaths go through 4-5yrs of rigorous training and extensive clinical assessments, to ensure safety, clinical efficacy and a high standard of care. The UK Government protects the use of the term 'Osteopath' under the Osteopathy Act 1993, ensuring only qualified individuals can call themselves an Osteopath. For more information please visit the General Osteopathic Councils website here.

What will happen at my first appointment?

When you arrive at the clinic, you will be asked to fill out the new patient questionnaire. Your practitioner will then take a full medical history, perform any necessary assessments and then will move on to hands-on treatment. Where relevant, you may need to be guided through exercises and you may be given some homework too!

Do I need to bring scans (x-rays, MRIs etc) with me?

If available, then previous scans can be highly valuable in understanding what has happened to your body previously. Don't stress if you can't find them, you don’t need them to have an appointment.

How many treatments will I need?

This is entirely dependant on your condition and your presenting complain. Your practitioner will discuss your treatment and the plan with you. Most people will see an improvement after one session, however most change will be seen at around 4-6 treatments.

Will it hurt during or after the session?

It is not uncommon to feel soreness for 24-48hrs post treatment. We encourage feedback during the session, so you may communicate to us if you feel sore at any point. When treating painful areas associated with injury, soreness is somewhat expected.

Can I bring someone with me?

Of course! You are well within your right to have a chaperone. Your comfort is our priority, so please feel free to bring someone in. It will ultimately be the decision of the primary patient.

Does taping or other modalities cost extra?

Nope! The price you see is all inclusive of any modality we think you may need. It gives us more flexibility with the treatment approach to ensure you get the best care possible.

Can I still come if I have pre-existing medical issues or if I am pregnant?

Yes! The beauty of Osteopathy and the work we do at the clinic is that it is beneficial for all. Modifications will be made for anyone that may need extra care. Ultimately your safety is our priority and we will not use any technique that we believe is potentially dangerous or detrimental to your recovery. On the rare occasion some people may present with symptoms that suggest a more serious problem or even a medical emergency. If this is the case, we will make sure we send you to the most appropriate place that suits your requirements.

What do I wear?

Appropriate clothing is always useful should we need to do certain assessments like squats or functional movements. Where suitable, we will provide shorts and a gown. For most, sportswear or loose fitting clothing is generally the best option. If in doubt, please give us a ring!
